Title: Return request for dietary supplement purchased on online shopping mall
Question
For the purpose of weight control, I purchased dietary supplements for KRW 400,000 through an online shopping mall. Regretting impulsive purchase, I submitted a return request to the seller. Pointing out that I had already opened the package of the product, however, he refused my return request. I had opened the outer packaging box to confirm the contents of the delivery, but the item itself remained intact. Therefore, I believe the seller’s refusal to my return request is unfair. Given the situation, may I return the item to the seller?
Answer
Yes, you can return the product to the seller. Under the Act on the Consumer Protection in Electronic Commerce, etc., a buyer shall be allowed to return goods to a seller in case he or she destroys the package in order to check the contents of the goods. But please be noted that the buyer should bear all costs for the return shipping.
