Refund request for wrongfully charged internet service fares

Question

I had used an internet service provided by Company A. Due to relocation, however, I had requested the subject company to terminate the service contract. Afterwards I had switched my internet service provider to another company. But recently I found out that Company A had kept billing and withdrawn monthly charges from my bank account over the last two years for the internet service that is supposed to have been terminated. By submitting the service cancellation form again along with ID documents, finally I was able to terminate the service contract with Company A. Nevertheless, the subject company asked me to pay for unpaid balance for the internet service which I have never used in the last two years. Do I have to pay for it?

Answer

Company A claims that as you had not presented the ID documents when submitting the service cancellation form two years ago, the contact remained effective. The company also asserts that it has a record to prove your statement for keeping the contract alive after you have been informed of penalty charges for earlier termination. Given lack of evidences, however, Company A’s claims are regarded unacceptable. On the contrary, if it is acknowledged that you had never used the internet service provided by Company A since the relocation, the subject company shall refund the wrongfully charged amount in the last two years. Note, however, you need to pay for the penalty as the early termination clause shall be applied to your case.
