Refund request for defective tablet PC even after exchange Question Immediately after the purchase, my tablet PC did not power on. So I had to exchange for a new one. Even after the exchange, however, the same problem has occurred. A technician at the authorized repair center of the manufacturer confirmed it was due to functional defects and suggested me to request for another exchange. But since the same issue has been reappeared in a short period of time (eight days) after the exchange, I’d like to get a refund. Under these circumstances, may I ask the manufacturer to issue a refund for the defective tablet PC?
Answer
According to the Regulations on Consumer Dispute Resolution set by Korea Fair Trade Commission, in case major repair is necessary for functional and performance defects naturally having occurred while using the product within ten days from the date of purchase, a customer shall be allowed to have a product replacement or get a refund of purchase price. Given the authorized repair center confirmed the same functional defect had occurred within eight days even after the exchange for a new one, therefore, you are deemed to be well qualified to get the refund of purchase price.
