Refund request for unused return flight ticket
Question: I purchased a round ticket for ICN (Incheon)-CPH (Copenhagen) via a travel agency and paid for the promotional fares of US$ 1,400. Due to some personal reasons, however, I did not use the return flight ticket. Hence I requested the air carrier to issue a refund for the unused flight ticket but the air carrier refused to refund. The airline claimed that there was no balance for the refund even though I did not use the return flight ticket. May I get the refund? Answer: The airline’s claim is justifiable and you will not get any refund for the unused flight ticket from them. In case a passenger does not use certain portion of his/her flight ticket, a regular pricing shall be applied for the refund of the unused flight ticket. For your case, there should be no balance because the discounted fares of US$ 1,400 for the round ticket were less than the regular fares of US$ 1,711 for the one-way ticket.
