Airline’s refusal to refund request by consumer

 


Outline of the case:

 

After cancelling his one-way ticket for Da Nang-Hoi An, a Korean consumer asked Vietnam Airlines to issue a refund for the subject booking. But the Vietnamese air carrier refused to honor the consumer’s refund request. Then the consumer claimed the airline’s refusal to refund was unfair and unacceptable since he had never been informed of non-refundable nature of the subject flight ticket throughout the booking process.

Final outcome:

From our investigation into the booking process at the airline’s mobile website, it has been verified that consumers were notified of non-refundable nature of the subject flight ticket. Given the fact the Vietnamese airline is not subject to the Korean laws and regulations and the non-refundable clause was spotted during the booking process, therefore, we were not able to help the consumer get compensated from the foreign air carrier.
