Korea Fair Trade Commission orders foreign online travel agencies to revise unfair refund policies
Korea Fair Trade Commission (KFTC), the nation’s antitrust watchdog said that it had foreign online travel agencies (OTAs) revise their unfair refund polices. KFTC has looked into provisions and clauses of four foreign OTAs, including Agoda, Booking.com, Hotels.com and Expedia, and discovered unfair terms that restrict the cancellation of contracts and refunds to customers. According to the regulator, Booking.com and Hotels.com also had provisions that they take no responsibility for offering false information on their websites, while Agoda kept its clients from seeking compensation for their damages. KFTC said it has ordered the four OTAs to revise the terms to let Korean customers cancel contracts and get refunds if they want.
